Learn how to make an Instant Mug Brownie in Microwave which will give you a single-serving chocolatey brownie in less than 2 minutes.
Are you someone who is not at all comfortable with an oven? Do you use your microwave only to heat food? Do you want a piece of brownie yet don’t want to get into the whole mixing baking thing? Why not make an Instant Mug Brownie in Microwave that too under 2 minutes. This is my cheat code recipe for a brownie when I am not in a mood to do too many things yet want to have a piece of brownie. This is that recipe which you can make at wee hours of the night when you want a piece of cake desperately but you don’t have it in your pantry!
I love making these mug cakes often because they are so fuss free and easy. This Instant Mug Brownie is an eggless vegan recipe even without any baking powder or baking soda – so it can be enjoyed by all. It requires very few ingredients which I am sure is easily available in any kitchen.
How to make Instant Mug Brownie in Microwave?
I have made this instant mug brownie multiple times. It’s actually easy to put everything in the mug and throw it in the microwave. But since I wanted to click some good looking photos I decided to mix everything separately and bake it in a tea cup instead of a mug. I find tea cups cute than a mug! But that’s just me, you can very well make it in a mug.
In a microwave safe bowl melt butter for 30 seconds. Add milk, vanilla essence, flour, cocoa powder, castor sugar (or powdered sugar) and whisk them well with a spoon. Mix well till everything is incorporated and there are no lumps. Here you can add your favorite nuts or chocolate chips. I have added walnuts because a fudgy brownie without walnuts is incomplete in my dictionary!
Grease Microwave safe tea cup (or mug if you want) with butter. Spoon the batter in it and tap the cup on your work top a few times so that the batter settles down well in a level.
How long to bake the Instant Mug Brownie in Microwave?
Every microwave is different. Some go up to 800W some even lower. You need to adjust the time depending on the highest temperature capacity of your microwave. Mine goes upto 950W and I baked the brownie for 1 min and 10 secs. If your microwave goes up to 800W or 850W bake it for 2 minutes.
This is a fudgy brownie and it will be sift and moist. If you keep it in the microwave for too long – i.e. more than 2 minutes or so it can turn hard.
How to serve the Instant Mug Brownie?
You can eat the brownie straight away. Or you can have it with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. My son was a little impatient at this time and brought his blue spoon to me while I was clicking the photos – so I thought why not include it in the photo as a prop!
Now, wasn’t this instant mug brownie quick and easy?

So easy right? My neighbor prepares this for her kids and yes, I get a bite most of the times! So yum! I will try your recipe, Tina. The pics are sinful!
Oh my god! This looks delicious and easy – So right up my alley
A few questions
1- Can I make this in a oven (OTG)
2- Is castor sugar brown sugar?

Thank you Geethica, hope to see you more often here.
I loved it! But if I am using maida, what should be the raising agent?
Intrigue
Neha you don’t require a raising agent for this. It’s a fudge brownie and not a cake. If i was making a mug cake ill add baking soda. But this is a moist fudge brownie – so no raising agent.
Quick and easy recipe for lazy people like me and for someone who hates the cleaning up after the baking

Thank you M. Yes its fuss free and cute
I wonder if you could mix the dry ingredients together in larger amounts, then take what is needed? It would save a little time to add the wet ingredients with the already prepared dry ingredients.
Cheryl, the quantities here are so less it doesn’t matter at all. I dump the dry ingredients in the wet ones and that helps in combining things easily. Thank you for dropping by.
Again, simple and wonderful. Excellent series worth saving and revisiting.
Now this is my stop! My solution for the odd cravings of chocolate at odd hours!
Cheers
