Abnormal temperatures, scorching sun & sweltering heat – the Indian summer shows no mercy to anyone. Keeping the body hydrated at all times is a must and what can be better than a coconut lime punch? And it turns even cooler when you have a Coconut & Lime Punch with a Cranberry Twist!
Summers are really bad for body’s hydration level. One minute out in the sun means body losing a considerable amount of water. I hate going out in the summers because of this very reason. And always guzzling down water becomes boring after a few times. Who like plain water??
I am not a big fan of aerated drinks too – it seriously is not good for your body – forget body it isn’t even good for your teeth! And how much can you have the sugary drinks? You need to keep yourself hydrated all the time. So why not try out something which is good for your body and tasty for your palate?
Tender coconut water contains an organic compound which rehydrates & keeps the body cool. Packed with natural sugar, salt & vitamins it helps in reducing fatigue & detoxifies. Lime apart from being rich in Vitamin C & potassium gives the much-needed citrus tang while Cranberry breaks the monotony. So energize yourself with this simple refreshing tropical coconut lime punch!
I like putting the lemon slices in the jar and muddling them like a sangria than just adding lime juice – it just makes it taste fresh and looks great too. You can make it and keep it in the refrigerator so that kids can come back home and enjoy. But you can keep it only for a few hours. If you leave it for more than 4 hours it will turn sour and start to ferment!
- Tender coconut water – 4 glasses
- Lemon sliced – 2
- Cranberry juice – 1 glass
- Palm Candy (Palm Sugar) – 1 table spoon
- Mint finely chopped & crushed – 1 tablespoon
- Ginger juliennes – 1 teaspoon
- A pinch of black salt
- Pomegranate seeds – 1 teaspoon
- Ice cubes – 6-8
- Mix the tender coconut water, lime slices & lemon juice in a jar
- Add the palm sugar, salt, ginger and crushed mint to it and mix well
- Add the cranberry juice & pomegranate seeds.
- Add ice cubes and stir well
- Let it sit for 5 minutes
- Serve chilled
And that’s it you are done! Serve it chilled with ice cubes & relish the tropical punch!
