Have you noticed how snack time has become even more important over last one year that the kids are at home all the time? Kids can get really demanding when it comes to snacking – they want something yummy, something fun and something quick! My six-year-old is no different that way. Also snack breaks have now snowballed across the day – in between online classes, mid-morning, evening, late nights!
Why Snacks with Maida is a no-no for my kid?
It’s a big task for any parent to keep snacks ready for kids! However, I often wonder how much of cakes, cookies and chips can I give him! I am not a big fan of maida or refined flour and try to avoid it myself! Did you know maida is not just infamous for weight gain and obesity but it can also lead to type 2 diabetes and elevated cholesterol? We often overlook the amount of maida we might be consuming!
The No- Maida Snacking Alternative
That’s why I am always on the look-out to find healthier alternatives for my kid during grocery shopping. I recently came across this brand called Saffola Oodles which has big bold “No Maida” written on it- I picked it up to check the label, and yes, it does not contain any maida or processed flour. It is made with whole grain oats and semolina. It also contains no palm oil- instead it has edible vegetable oil in the form of rice bran oil and refined sunflower oil.
How was the Oodle Experience?
While making Saffola Oodles I noticed, it doesn’t stick to the pan like usual instant noodles, and it doesn’t absorb all the soup as noodles made with Maida does. It is ready in like 5 minutes and I leave it a little soupy as mentioned in the pack. The best part is it doesn’t become sticky or lumpy after getting cold! Brownie points from me here for the brand.
Now my son is not a big fan of oats and doesn’t warm up to a bowl of oats easily. But oats in the form of noodles got him really excited too. What stood out most for him is its fun rings shape, my son has been calling it fondly ‘The Ring Noodles’. It’s cute no? We are absolutely in love with its masala taste- as delicious and fun it is, he loves to enjoy a bowl every now and then, maybe while being busy with his art project or while doing his homework. He says its “yummy” and I approve of it too.
Have you tried Saffola Oodles yet?

I would really try this one as my kids are fan of instant noodles and I don’t prefer giving them many times. However, this oodles seem to be perfect for them as they are no maida and soupy. Would definitely try it.
Am hungry now. Even I prefer no maids foods. I will buy this oodles soon & savor them.
Maida is an absolute no no in my house also. I was not aware of this snacking option. It looks so yummy and tempting. Will surely try it out. I am sure my daughter will also enjoy.
Both my kids love noodles and I think I’m going to make the switch to this no maida snack pretty soon. I hope my children love Saffola Oodles as much as your son did 🙂
Oodles seems to have oodles of goodness. Thank you for the recommendation. Will surely try.
This is such a good snack. I have never tried Saffola Oodles but would love to try them, especially because it has no maida. I generally try to avoid maida as much as I can too.
