Restaurant Review 46 Ounces Brewgarden Electronic City, Bangalore

46 Ounces Brewgarden is the perfect place to grab a craft beer, some mouthwatering food and soak in the greenery. It is one of the best places in Electronic City, Bangalore for those lazy weekends.

Last Saturday, Mr. B had his Karate exam and earned his Orange belt, so it was definitely the occasion to celebrate. Heading towards the buzzing new place in Electronic City (which is my home) made total sense. 46 Ounces Brewgarden at once puts you in your comfort zone when you spot the beautifully manicured lawns and garden seating atmosphere. But did the brews and food live up to our expectations? Read on the restaurant review to find out.

Ambience of 46 Ounces Brewgarden, Electronic City, Bangalore

If the lawns and greenery are not enough to satisfy your eyes, 46 Ounces Brewgarden boasts of water bodies, fountains. Laze around in the couches facing artificial waterfalls or enjoy a glass of chilled beer under a canopy on the lawn. The restaurant boasts of an alfresco setup with garden furniture to soak in all the greenery and air. It instantly gives you a fresh feeling. We loved the pinewood accents and rustic décor.

Craft Beers

This micro-brewery is first of its kind in Electronic city. It is managed by Mannheim Brews with the philosophy “No Crap on Tap”! It’s a collaboration between a network of brewers from Germany and India.

There are four craft beers on their menu currently Zitrus, Hefeweizen, New England IPA and German Pilsner. We settled with a Hefeweizen and a New England IPA. Hefeweizen is a German-style unfiltered wheat beer that’s malty, sweet and low on bitterness. It has a banana clove flavor and a strong aroma with an ABV of 5.2%. I chose the New England IPA which has an American fruity flavor and is low on bitterness. ABV 5.8%. There’s absolutely nothing like a good chilled craft beer on a hot sunny day.

Food at 46 Ounces Brewgarden

We loved the variety of food on the menu. You can choose from Indian to Mexican to Italian to Oriental. Just the kind of spread we love.

Fin-Tastic Fingers – Fish fingers and fish fries are like our staples and we always try to order them. These crumb fried fish fingers were served with French fries and home ground mustard sauce. I especially loved the crumb because it is not the usual breadcrumb batter. It is in fact a bread slice wrapped fish finger making it very crispy.

BBQ Chicken Pizza – The son loves pizzas so both of us enjoyed an afternoon of pizzas. The Barbequed Chicken pizza with juicy BBQ chicken chunks, jalapenos, arugula, and scamorza cheese was the start of our afternoon. Scamorza cheese is a little uncommon in pizzas in India. We totally loved this thin crust pizza. We also spotted their wood fire oven and that must be a big contributing factor to the taste.

T-Bone Steak – This was the husband’s favorite pick. He loves his steak and the T-bone steak turned out pretty good. Served with sautéed veggies it’s quite a hearty meal.

Desserts – There’s a big desert counter to choose from. I have a major sweet tooth and we love experimenting with desserts. However, on this day we settled with the Blueberry Cheesecake and a Tripple chocolate cake for Mr. B.

We also spotted some giant skillet baked cookies and homemade ice creams on the counter. If you love desserts, you’ll be happy.

Our Experience at 46 Ounces Brewgarden

The ambience was amazing on this Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t too crowded and it isn’t too hot in Bangalore yet to feel uncomfortable in an Alfresco set up. The staff is courteous and the food was amazing. The craft beer was also okay – nothing out of the world though!

It scores high for me on Ambience and food!

They host a lot of events Indie Rocks and fusions. I am sure it looks pretty cozy in the evenings. I will probably visit this restaurant again – well, definitely yes for the pizza!

Value for Money?

Okay, the big question – is it value for money? A 10-inch pizza with premium cheese costs Rs. 425/-. On an average a meal with alcohol would cost around Rs. 1600/- for two.

Is it Kid Friendly?

When we go out now we always check if the join is kid-friendly or have a kid-friendly menu. There are enough food to choose from on the menu that is kid-friendly like sandwiches, soups, pizzas, pastas.

My Verdict – 46 Ounces Brewgarden

Ambiance – 4.5/5

Food Options – 4.5/5

Food Quality – 4/5

Service – 4/5

Nail Your First Date: Read Restaurant Reviews Before Choosing One

read restaurant reviews

If it’s just a typical day you’ve decided to eat out, you probably didn’t take a long time thinking which restaurant you should choose. You’re probably craving for something so, of course, you’ll go to the best place where you can buy it. And that’s it. Cravings satisfied. No need to think hard. Also, this is not to generalize, but men typically decide and act fast. They don’t take too much time shopping or choosing a restaurant to eat.

Things change if it’s not only your preferences you should think about. That’s especially true on your first date. The first time this special girl caught your attention, all you wanted to do is to ask her out and get to know her better. You probably summoned all the courage to do that, especially, if you really, really like her. Check out this article for some first-date ideas.

The moment she said yes, you want to make sure that the first date will be memorable and that she’ll look forward to the next ones after that. So, the last thing you can imagine is jeopardizing that perfect moment you’ve been waiting for! Things like poor service and long waiting time in the restaurant you’ve chosen could ruin the whole thing. Worse is, if it’s the food itself you can’t stand.

Granted, it’s not your fault. But those mishaps could embarrass you. While some things just happen because they’re out of our control, you can do your best to avoid these awkward, embarrassing moments by choosing the best place for your date. How? By reading reviews.

Before Your Date, Do Some Research

You probably met once or even several times already and now that you’re ready to formally ask her out on your first date, you need some unique ideas to make it extra special. One of the details is choosing the ideal restaurant. But this isn’t just about you anymore. You need to consider her preferences, too.

The challenge is, how are you going to know what an ideal first date would look like for her? Carefully recall your past conversations. Perhaps, you can pick some clues from that. What are her interests? What’s her favorite cuisine? Maybe she mentioned something like, “Oh, I’ve been really wanting to try Japanese food!” Why not make that happen for her by choosing a great Japanese restaurant?

Girls like thoughtful guys. Who wouldn’t? Even guys like this quality in girls, too. After all, everyone wants to feel appreciated and remembered. So, if you show that you remember even the smallest details from your conversations, it’s definitely a plus that will instantly pull on her heartstrings.

Now that you have an idea, you can look up several choices for the specific kind of restaurant you wish to visit with her. Then, look up reviews for each one of those on your list. Know what previous customers say about these restaurants.

Good thing, there are some credible review sites you can visit for this purpose. One of them is the Foodporn by Urbanspoon which has been around for decades already since it was established in 1997. There are also other review sites where hundreds of restaurants from different states have been already enlisted on their site. All you have to do is to look up the names of the restaurants you’re interested in.

Criteria You Should Look for

What does a good restaurant review look like? Needless to say, taste is a very subjective thing. Some people like sweet flavors, others despise it. Some people prefer salty, meaty flavors while some are obsessed with everything fresh and vegan.

The point is, it’s not enough if someone describes a dish as delicious, savory or sumptuous—whatever flowery words you can think of. If you can get an accurate description of something, then, that’s great. Later, you can decide whether it’s something that satisfies your appetite or something you’ll never try again.

Next stuff: service and prices of the items on the menu. You’ll need to set a budget for your date, so you need to know the prices. Also, we all deserve good service for the price we’ve paid for. Previous customers almost always comment on that.

What’s the general ambience of the place? Is it relaxing or noisy? Do they have allotted tables for a more private dinner setting so that you can really have a meaningful conversation with each other? The look and feel of the place matters!

When everything’s set and you’re already in that very moment you’re waiting for, just relax and make the most of it. Who knows, that restaurant will witness a new love story unfold.

Restaurant Review – Esfahan Restaurant, Casual Dining Restaurant in Electronic City Bangalore

Esfahan restaurant is a casual dining restaurant in Electronic City Phase 1, Bangalore, serving North Indian and Lucknowi cuisine. They also serve Kolkata style Biriyani. We ordered in a delivery over the weekend and had some kathi rolls on another day, so I thought why not review the food and the services. Reviewing Today – Esfahan Restaurant Electronic City.

This is now Top Post on IndiBlogger Sep 3

Indian Bloggers

When the flyer of this new restaurant in the vicinity came inserted in our newspaper we were happy. Any eatery that mentions Kolkata style Biriyani has a special place in my heart because obviously, I miss the beautiful fragrant biriyani of Kolkata. Those of you who are unaware about it, Kolkata style Biriyani comes mandatorily with a potato and an egg along with either chicken or mutton. This biriyani has subtle spices and is very fragrant, unlike Hyderabadi or Lucknowi biriyani. Restaurant Review – Dyu Art Café, Koramangala, Bangalore

Modelled as an old South Indian Chettinad style house, Dyu Art Café in Koramangala, Bangalore is one of the coziest food joints you can find in Bangalore.

Last weekend I took out my about-to-be-two son for a mom & son date – hoping a change of place might make him eat well. We were in Koramangala, in south Bangalore, for some shopping, so what better place than Dyu Art Café for a cozy and hearty lunch? This is the second time I am visiting this very homely café, so it warrants a review on the blog.

Review Post – Yellow Dal Tadka with Tata Sampann Masala

yellow-dal-tadka-recipe-how-to-make-indian-yellow-dal-tadka-tata-sampann-spices-indian-spices-slider

Today let me start my post by asking you all a question – when you are cooking something what do you aim for? Is it the perfection? Is it the taste? Is it how well you have followed the recipe, is it the invention that you might have made? Or is it the smile on the faces of the people who are eating the food you just cooked for them? For me the last criterion is very important. My better half is a bigger foodie than myself, and every time I tell him it’s only ‘dal-chawal  and some vegetarian food tonight’ he makes a face. I do all these experiments and creative cooking mostly to keep him and now also the little one happy. Continue reading Review Post – Yellow Dal Tadka with Tata Sampann Masala

#NoRecipePost – Your food from your Place of Origin

place-of-origin-website-review-bengali-sweets-healthy-snacks

Have you been staying away from your hometown for long? Then let me ask you a question – what do you miss the most, apart from your family? My answer to that question is local food. The toughest part of settling miles away from your hometown is not having access to the local iconic foods that you have grown up on. I have been staying away from Kolkata for 9 years now and I still can’t digest the fact that I can’t go out in the street and find a ‘phuchkawala’ (panipuri seller) at the corner of the street!

No sweet shop, no snack shop which sells local snacks – it makes you think what if I could get some snack from the local shop back in my hometown? Yeah what if? But I guess times are changing and in this age of online shopping everything is possible. Continue reading #NoRecipePost – Your food from your Place of Origin
